Videos: Jawbox Reunite on "Fallon"

Alright, that new Polvo record is better than it has any right to be, while the Jesus Lizard will forever be exalted to god-like status amongst those in the know. Even Sunny Day Real Estate managed to bring emo full-circle in a satisfying way. But for me, the unexpected reunion of the year pretty easily falls to Washington D.C. post-hardcore legends Jawbox, who recently reissued the flat-out essential For Your Own Special Sweetheart, one of my favorite records of all time. Last night, they played their first show as unit in 12 years, appearing on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon". Apparently this will be their only performance-- talk about savory. And in case you missed it, Jon and I talked extensively about the 1990s D.C. and Dischord scene in our recent Fugazi podcast (Jawbox being the band's most direct descendant), while on an even earlier show, Brian and I chatted about Jawbox's classic Sweetheart track, "Motorist". But last night the band played three other irreproachable tunes on Fallon, and NBC has the embeds. (via P4k News)
